The Klong Prem Prision prison is a high-security prison in Bangkok the holds prisoners that don’t have sentences longer than 25 years, The prison holds approximately 7,500 people which around 1150 are male foreign prisoners from over 55 countries the prison is classed as a maximum security prison.

Klong Prem Prison is renowned through out the world as being one of the worst prisons in the world with terrible conditions. Prisoners share cells with around 50 other inmates often having to sleep on their sides, as there is not enough room to lye on their backs. The cells were originally designed to hold around 25 inmates, in the corner of the cells their is a toilet with a low wall and if an inmate needs the toilet in the middle of the night then they need to climb over people, trying not so stand on any one. Prisoners have to lye on the concrete floor unless they have the luxury of a matt.
The food in the prison usually consists of rice and fish soup that is made up of fish bones and the occasional fish heads. Inmates can have food sent in from the prison shop bread etc and basic toiletries.
The food from the prison is often contaminated and often makes prisoners ill, the prisoners can also suffer malnutrition loosing teeth to name just one of the problems.
Visiting prisoners is allowed but a strict dress code is enforced and during the hours of 08.30hrs and 15.30hrs. Visiting a prisoner at Klong Prem is done via a glass screen and for a maximum of 20 minutes. Some people may argue that prison should not be a holiday camp but everyone is entitled to some dignity and not treated like animals in this modern world. James Kinch does not want sympathy just a fair trial that is his human right.
